That uncertainty is exactly why North Forge exists.

North Forge is also home to one of Canada’s premier Fabrication Laboratories (FabLab), where members have access to more than $4 million worth of advanced manufacturing equipment. Industrial 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, woodworking equipment, metalworking tools, electronics stations, and more allow entrepreneurs to move from concept to prototype without the enormous costs that often prevent great ideas from becoming reality.
There is something incredibly powerful about holding an idea in your hands for the first time.
Suddenly, it stops being something you’ve imagined and becomes something you can test, improve, and eventually bring to market.
What makes North Forge especially unique is that these two worlds work together.
While our Innovation Hub and FabLab serve different purposes and operate from different locations in Winnipeg, they’re both part of the same mission: helping innovators turn great ideas into reality. Some entrepreneurs begin by developing a business idea through one of our startup programs before becoming FabLab members to prototype their products. Others first walk into the FabLab because they simply want to build something, only to discover they’ve created something with real commercial potential. Wherever the journey begins, both teams work together to ensure entrepreneurs have access to the right expertise, resources, and connections at the right time. It is one ecosystem designed to support every stage of innovation.
Innovation rarely follows a straight line.
