    North Forge is an award-winning, not-for-profit startup incubator, accelerator, and state-of-the-art fabrication lab. We power Manitoba’s most innovative science-based, technology-driven, and advanced manufacturing startups, guiding them from ideation to funding with exceptional resources and support designed to fuel growth.

     

    Home to one of North America’s largest publicly accessible fabrication labs (FabLab™), North Forge offers startups and makers access to $4 million worth of cutting-edge tools and technologies, turning ambitious ideas into reality. 

    We’re looking for an Assistant Maintenance Manager to help keep the FabLab running smoothly, ensuring our members have a safe and efficient environment to innovate.
     

    Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with the routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diverse equipment, maintaining safety standards, and addressing member needs to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
     

    Summary of Key Responsibilities


    Maintenance Operations

    • Assist the Maintenance Manager with routine maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment.

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.

    • Maintain comprehensive records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and services.

    • Respond promptly to maintenance needs and incident reports as required.

    • Conduct daily, weekly, and/or monthly inspections as assigned.
       

    Safety and Compliance

    • Contribute as a member of the North Forge Health and Safety Committee.

    • Attend quarterly Health and Safety Committee meetings.

    • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety issues and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

    • Assess workplace hazards, recommend mitigation measures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

    • Provide guidance to management, employees, and FabLab members on safety-related matters.

    Member Support and Representation

    • Represent the Maintenance team during member council meetings in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.

    • Respond to member requests and address concerns with professionalism and efficiency.

    • Foster a positive company culture and maintain a safe work environment.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Director of the Fabrication Lab.

     

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Experience in identifying workplace hazards and mitigating safety risks.

    • Proficiency in using and maintaining a variety of equipment.

    • Strong ability to work collaboratively within a close team environment while following instructions effectively.

    • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance and safety tasks.

    • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a safe and positive work environment.

    Work Environment

    The Assistant Maintenance Manager will be based at the North Forge FabLab, an advanced fabrication space dedicated to innovation and entrepreneurship. The role requires hands-on interaction with state-of-the-art equipment and a commitment to maintaining a collaborative and safe environment for FabLab members.
