Meet the Indigenous Entrepreneur Scholarship Recipient: The Founder of IndigiNerd

North Forge is excited to spotlight the founder of IndigiNerd, a business bringing Indigenous creativity and technology together through traditional storytelling and nerd culture.
Proud of his Métis and Ojibwe heritage, the founder of IndigiNerd is passionate about finding new ways to celebrate and share Indigenous identity. His first project focuses on creating miniature war clubs that showcase Indigenous history, culture and craftsmanship in a creative, educational way.
As a recipient of the North Forge Indigenous Entrepreneur Scholarship, presented in partnership with Community Futures Manitoba through the Indigenous Business Development Services (IBDS) program, he will have access to North Forge’s FabLab, training and resources to help him build on his vision and explore new possibilities for IndigiNerd.
Turning Ideas into Reality at the FabLab
With access to North Forge's FabLab, he plans to explore laser cutting and 3D printing technology to create culturally inspired souvenirs, artwork and visual materials that complement his Indigenous storytelling workshops and tours.
The scholarship will also support his plans to expand his product offerings, participate in local makers' markets and connect with new audiences throughout Winnipeg and beyond.
Reflecting on what this opportunity means to him, he shared:
“This means so much to me, it's a great support from my local community in Winnipeg and will allow me to give back to the indigenous community and Winnipeg as well. It's a huge resource that will allow my ideas and inspirations to take flight to new places I never thought of before.”
Looking ahead, his vision is to see IndigiNerd products featured in cultural spaces, galleries and museums while continuing to share his passion for Indigenous history and culture with new audiences.
Supporting Indigenous Innovation
The North Forge Indigenous Entrepreneur Scholarship is designed to reduce financial barriers and create greater access to the tools and resources Indigenous entrepreneurs can use to build, create and grow. Recipients gain access to advanced fabrication equipment, mentorship, training and a supportive community.
For entrepreneurs like the founder of IndigiNerd, that access creates more room to experiment, build and bring their own vision to life.
