Amy from Bow & Arrow will teach you how to carve your own wooden spoon using a spoon gouge and a carving knife. Students will be provided a basswood spoon blank, carving knife, a spoon gouge, and a rasp. The workshop will start by discussing different types of wood, carving techniques and treatments. After discussing carving techniques and safety, Amy will demonstrate how to carve use the spoon gouge. She will help you to design and whittle the handle to your own taste. Once the carving is complete you will sand and finish your spoon with a natural finish.
All the tools will be provided for the workshop. You will go home with your own finished spoon and a magnified sense of self-pride!
