Lunch & Learn: Crowdfunding for Startups
Join us April 20 at the SmartPark Event Centre for a panel discussion and Q & A. Local entrepreneurs Dustin Refvik, Jesse Marr, and Matt Olsen will share their experiences with crowdfunding platforms, and answer your questions about how you can do it yourself.
Dustin Refvik is co-founder of TrapTap, a Winnipeg company that created a device to warn drivers of speed traps, school zones, and red light cameras using crowdsourced data. TrapTap’s Kickstarter campaign resulted in nearly 2,700 backers pledging over $373,000 to bring the product to life.
Jesse Marr and Matt Olson are co-founders of Lift Innovations, a company that designs, manufactures and distributes premium products for the naturopathic herb market. During the first quarter of 2016, they were able to crowdfund over $200,000 on INDIEGOGO with their innovative grinder, “The Clipper.”
