The Long Con is an information security conference by the community for the community. It follows a traditional conference format but encourages participation, discussion, and collaboration.
The Long Con 2018 is a two-day information security conference planned for November. It is organized as a single track on the top floor of the King’s Head Pub.
The Long Con Inc. is a non-profit corporation established in July 2012 with the sole purpose of putting on information security conference. All conference expenses are covered by our amazing sponsors and all the organization, planning, and execution is carried out by a dedicated group of experienced volunteers. Our first three conferences ran under the banner of BSides Winnipeg.
Why is the cost of a Regular ticket an odd number, wasn’t it only $20.00 last year?
EventBrite adds 3.5% + $0.99 to the price of each ticket in fees.
What’s the deal with these extra types of tickets?
We plan to always offer the option of attending for $20, but every year several people contact us asking to personally donate above and beyond the cost of a regular ticket. Since our cost per attendee is more than triple what the regular tickets cost, we have created additional ticket types so that those people that want to help fund the event can do so.
All of the [block] tickets are gone! Do you have any extra?
Remember that we always sell out. If one block of tickets (e.g. Regular) runs out but there are still unsold tickets in another block (e.g. I Love The Long Con!) then we will eventually transfer the unsold tickets between blocks. We’ll only do this when we feel confident that nobody is going to buy the unsold tickets in their original block, however. Watch @TheLongConWpg for updates.
My company sponsored the event, how do I get my Sponsor ticket?
For each sponsor, a number of Sponsor tickets are allocated. We will be emailing the associated Sponsor ticket to the person we have been coordinating with for each sponsoring organization. If you’re unsure who that is, email us at [email protected] and we’ll help sort it out.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Street parking is limited, but there is a parkade at 100 King St., less than a block from the event.
Can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Of course, email us at [email protected] with your questions.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Presenting a printed ticket at the registration desk is the quickest and easiest option, but if you forget we can match your photo ID against our registration records.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?
If you show up with a printed ticket, then we don’t care about the name on the ticket. But if you don’t have a ticket and are attempting to register via photo ID, we’ll need to have been notified beforehand by the ticket’s original owner emailing us at [email protected].
